Single trip travel insurance
Single Trip Travel Insurance

How to Keep Costs Low
If you are looking to buy a single trip holiday insurance policy for one trip that you are making, then your aim should be to get the right levels of coverage at the lowest possible cost. There are hundreds of options available to you when it comes to buying single trip travel insurance and they will give you more or less the same benefits.  As you’ll gain nothing by paying more in most cases, you should be looking for cheap travel insurance!  So, how can you turn your quest for a single trip holiday insurance policy into a cheap travel insurance result?

Cutting costs on single trip travel insurance

There are various ways to cut costs when it comes to buying any kind of insurance policy. If you are looking to buy cheap single trip travel insurance, then try to:

  • Shop around:  The more cheap travel insurancepolicy quotes you get, the easier it will be to find a low cost option. This need not take a lot of time and effort as there are plenty of internet search sites that will trawl the market for you, so you really have no excuse!

  • Talk to your current insurer:  If you already have some kind of insurance (such as car or house policies), then check out your current insurer. Many will give their existing customers a discount on new insurance purchases.

  • Buy online:  Many insurance companies will give specific single trip travel insurance discounts to customers who can buy their policies online.

  • Buy days:  Many single trip travel insurance policies will be set out to last for a pre-set number of days. Some, however, can be arranged to give you coverage only for the number of days you need. This might work out cheaper for you.

  • Use the kids:  Don’t assume that you have to pay to put the kids on a single trip holiday insurance policy. Many insurers will let them go free, charge half price, or give a percentage discount for their coverage.

  • Think about features:  Don’t go for a policy that has a lot of additional features that you don’t need. You’ll simply waste money if you buy coverage that doesn’t apply to you. On the other hand, if you need specialist coverage such as winter sports, then look for cheap travel insurance policies that include coverage as standard rather than charging at an extra cost.

  • Consider where you’re going:  It might be worthwhile buying a policy targeted at the area where you’ll be travelling. Taking out a US-focused policy for a trip overseas may be more expensive as it will come with higher levels of medical coverage.

The main mistake that people make when buying single trip travel insurance is to buy through their travel agent or to take up the first single trip holiday insurance policy that they come across. While this will give you the coverage you need, it won’t necessarily give you cheap travel insurance!

The costs of your single trip travel insurance can be cut significantly if you look for single trip holiday insurance policies and take time to assess what you actually need from a cheap travel insurance before taking one out.
